February 1 2011

The meeting was called to order by Chief Neumann at 19:10.

Members in attendance were Jamie, Josh, Tonya, Ryan, Tim, Greg, Pat and Kevin.

The Minutes from the December and January meeting were read.  Motion to approve by Kevin, 2nd by Josh.  Carried.

Old Business

The Community Club was real happy with the door prizes that the Fire Department provided.

New Business

Reflective vests and reflective signs.  Safety wise it is a good idea.  It will better protect us while we are out on the highway.

Trucks: Rescue: Beacon and started need to be fixed. Pumper: needs plate put back on.   Tanker: Drop Tank and lid on the top need to be put back on.

If there are four people take bush and rescue.  On a car accident the main vehicles would be Rescue, Pumper, then brush, depending on how many people show up for the call.

Fire school- this year got out of hand.  If you don’t show up to meetings you shouldn’t be able to go to fire school.  If you want to attend fire school you must attend 9 meetings and 3 trainings in the calendar year up to fire school.  The training sessions will be set up by the officers of the department.  Work related absences will be excused.  Motion by Ryan, Second by Jamie.  Motion carried.  Tim, Kevin, Ryan, Brandon, and Josh are still going at this time.

In March there will be two meetings.  The first will be our regular meeting which will be held on March 1st.  The second meeting will be the Annual District Meeting.  This will take place on the 14th. The meal for the Annual Meeting will be the same as last year.  Pork Loin, baked potato, corn, bars, coffee and lemonade.

The meal for the Raffle will be ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, dinner rolls, bars, coffee and lemonade.

Creative Impressions: Jackets would be the same as Gregs.  Last time the guys paid for the jackets and the Fire Department paid for the embroidery.  Polo shirts- would cost $24.  Black shirts, with white lettering and a red Maltese cross.  Motion by Jamie, second by Josh.  Motion carried.

Memory board.  Would show respect to past fire department members who have passed away.  Motion by Jamie, second by Josh.  Motion carried. The board should be made of a nice finishing wood with brass plates for names.  Have an American Flag and a Fire Department Flag hanging on the wall by them.  Ryan and Tim will take care of the board.

Building sign.  Do we want to do it out of wood or see what a graphics company would charge to make one.  Greg will check with creative impressions to see what the cost would be.

In the spring we should put up a flag pole just to the south of the building.  Have the US Flag, ND State Flag and see about a custom Niagara Fire Flag.  Ryan will look into the cost of the flag.  Motion by Ryan, second by Tonya.  Motion carried.

Kevin talked to Grand Forks Fire.  They don’t have anything for us at this time.  We should look into a new truck but also look into what we can afford as a department.  Maybe we should spend the money to have someone write us a grant.

Centennial: Department doesn’t think they want the derby.  Neumann Racing will host the derby instead.  They are requesting the Fire Departments presence the day of the event.  The battle between local fire departments can still take place.  We as a department should sit down and see if there may be some different things we could sell that day.  One idea is have 4 or 5 commemorative plates made and keep one for the Fire Department and sell raffle tickets on the remaining plates.

Motion to adjourn by Jamie, Second Greg.  Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 21:42
